Két rézkarcommal párhuzamba akartam állítani Francisco de Goya: A háború borzalmai (1810-20) között készült sorozatát egy aktuális témával. Így készítettem el a Goya Hommage mellett, az Iszlám Állam által 2014-ben lefejezett James Foley amerikai újságíróról készült képet. Mikor a témával foglalkoztam, felfigyeltem rá, hogy nem csak tartalmilag, de vizuálisan is hasonló a Goya karc és az IS általi videóban megjelenített fejetlen holttest jelképe. A mai "háború borzalmait" így szintén rézkarcra, Goyáéval azonos hordozóra emeltem.
With my two etching, I wanted to put Goya's The Disaters of war series next to a current subject. This is why I made a picture about James Foley, an american journalist who was executed by the IS, next to the Goya Hommage. When I was studying the subject, I realized that not just the meaning and the message is the same when you see the Goya etching and the beheaded journalist, but they are visually resembling too. So this is why I decided, that I want to visualize the terror of today's wars with etching, just like Goya did.
